About the Cistercians
The Cistercian Order, founded in the 12th century, a period of major reforms in the Church, was born out of the desire of some monks to live the monastic life with greater purity and simplicity, within the great family of monasteries that follow the Rule of Saint Benedict.
Present in Brazil since 1936, the Cistercian and Trappist monks and nuns seek to be faithful in fidelity to their charism, whether by dedicating themselves to the contemplative life or collaborating with the local churches with some pastoral activities.
